The Grand Vision

I do like how this site is going right now, much better than I thought it would be. I am a man with a vision, with goals for the future. And boy is it a glorious future.

2026

I’m the kind of person with about a hundred different side projects. I initially got into this site as a mere channel to broadcast these projects, not anticipating how much work (and fun) it would be. As mentioned on the home page, this site should be complete by the end of 2026, or maybe earlier, since I don’t actually have much left. All I have to do as of the writing of this entry is to finish a central format for longer works and complete the whole encyclopedia side of the site. It shouldn’t take too long. After that, there’s probably some decor in order. I’m planning to create a screensaver animation for the background of the home page, for one thing, and also probably create themes for each of the story pages. But this decoration will most likely be added later on.

Besides this site, I’m also juggling school, Extra-curriculars (martial arts), an instrument (piano), drawing, as well as learning Python. And, you know, I also have to figure out what I’m going to do with my life. I know for sure I’m going to go into law or something law adjacent, so I need to figure out college and all that fun stuff.

I’m behind track on my one story a month challenge, which isn’t such a big deal. If you think about it, ten or eleven stories isn’t any worse than twelve. just finished my July story, which I didn’t finish because the end of the month snuck up on me. It’s funny, the more I focus on doing something productive, the faster time seems to pass. Or maybe I’m just a painfully slow writer. Probably both.

July’s story was called “the Edifice”, essentially my take on the metaverse. In it, the characters plan a heist to acquire some of their world’s digital currency, veneer, which functions as pieces of code. Someone with veneer can create anything they want out of it, Essentially altering reality at will. Everyone says money is power, so the story is me playing around with the idea of money literally being a reality warping power. Is it a good one? Obviously, I don’t think so. It’s not a particularly terrible one, either. Give it a few months, and I’ll feel better about it, I’m sure.

I started on this month’s story, too. It’s called “Viking Burial”, per the alleged viking custom of setting people off on flaming boats. It’s about an old sailor taking his grandson on a final voyage in search of a forbidden island, with a smuggler for a captain and in the company of an old friend of the sailor’s who might just be a demon. (I’ve only gotten through the introductory scene…) The inspiration behind this one flows from two veins: my own great grandpa who’s still alive to tell me about his life, and a conversation I had with friends about how we’d like to go out. There were some suggestions of riding a car full of dynamite off a cliff and other outlandish ideas, but the general consensus was, anywhere but a hospital bed. I can’t remember my answer, but on a voyage to a forgotten land sounds pretty sweet.

I have a few chapters finished for a cyberpunk-esque book called The Eternal City. Except, get this, it has wizards. Rusted Bones also has potential for being expanded into a full book someday.

I have a couple other ideas for future stories, so we’re good to go as long as I spend the time.

Time, yes. As soon as you know exactly how much you have, the faster it slips by you. Like punishment, for knowing how much you have and wasting some anyway. My goal is to spend about five to six hours a week writing, thirty minutes a day for piano, drawing practice, and learning python. just little enough to keep going every day and chip away. Plus working in time to polish this site.

The Encyclopedia

I have about two articles already written, ready to be pasted into whatever structure I build. Writing is right up my alley, but the illustration, not so much. I’m an okay-ish artist. At this moment, I’m focusing on gesture drawing and expression capturing under a time limit. We’ll see how far that goes to improve me. I also have a friend who may be interested in helping me out. It’ll all come in time, I suppose.

Baby Steps

Obviously, I’ve got big aspirations. A YouTube channel. A video game. Merch. My writing, in physical, purchasable form. A legion of adoring fans. For now, there’s probably not one soul even reading this right now. And that’s okay. Baby steps….

SO I’ll end this where I started. I like where it’s going. Mentally, I’m in a really good place. I’m making good progress, from a terrible artist to an okay-ish artist, from having no clue how to code to getting a grasp on some more complicated stuff, from no site to a site, etc. I’ve yet to make all my work processes more efficient, but that’ll come too. This time last year I was a lot more miserable than I am now, so at least that’s going my way.

That’s all for now,
